Six Month Countdown

Plans are coming along. I have tested my bike along the Gibb River Road, riding rough rocky and gravel roads, a few creek crossings, a bit of deep sand and of course camping. They are tough and exhausting roads to ride and I am happy with the way the bike - and my skills - have held up. The gear I carried on the trip to Broome weighed 55kgs and I have now converted that to around 20kgs and still carry all of the necessities for a round the world trip. I have changed to soft baggage and each trip up the Gibb I carry all my tools and camping gear and hardly notice it. So the next three months I will continuing in my job. Then I hand in my notice and have a four week 'vacation' in Spain and Morocco. On return I'll ride back to Brisbane for Christmas. The bike is already booked into the mechanic on the Sunshine Coast for its 50,000km service and final preps for the big journey. Anticipating putting the bike on a plane to LA on Jan 31, 2014, soon followed by me! Let the journey begin!
